‘Coldrif’ Linked To Child Deaths In Rajasthan, Ban Expands To Other States

In the wake of child deaths linked to toxic cough syrup, Uttarakhand has now banned Coldrif, the medicine found contaminated with diethylene glycol. The move comes as Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav visits Chhindwara to meet families of victims. Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry has convened an emergency review meeting with all states after at least 14 children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan died from consuming the spurious syrup. States have been urged to ensure rational use of cough syrups in children, as most coughs don’t need medication.
