Swiss Solar Furnaces Recycling Watchmakers’ Waste Metal

Swiss firm Panatere has inaugurated two solar furnaces to recycle steel offcuts from the watchmaking industry. Using concentrated sunlight, the system melts waste metal into reusable steel. The initiative aims to produce 1,000 tonnes of green steel annually, promoting a sustainable circular economy in Switzerland’s precision manufacturing sector.
