“If You Can’t Speak Marathi After So Many Years…”: MNS Leader Defends Slap Row

A shopkeeper was assaulted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers in Thane for asking them why speaking in Marathi should be compulsory. MNS leader Avinash Jadhav spoke to NDTV, explaining the sequence of events and what led to the incident. Mr Jadhav said action should be taken against the accused but also tried to defend the act and said, “If you can’t speak Marathi after living here for so many years then that’s not right.”
