The wool and carpet industry in western Rajasthan, particularly in Bikaner, is reeling under pressure after the US government imposed a 50% tariff on Indian imports. With annual exports of yarn and carpets worth around ₹1,200 crore, most of it headed to the US, the move has sharply hit demand, raising fears of large-scale unemployment among skilled artisans. Industry representatives warn that the steep tariff could cripple operations and force many workers to abandon the trade.
