Bihar Election News | Mahagathbandhan’s Manifesto, EC Notice To Prashant Kishor, Jan Nayak Row

With less than two weeks to go for polling, the Mahagathbandhan has released its manifesto, packed with major welfare promises aimed at jobs, women, and social security. The alliance has vowed to scrap the Waqf Amendment Act in Bihar and pass a law guaranteeing one government job per family. All Jeevika Didis will get a fixed salary of ₹30,000 and permanent government employee status. The INDIA bloc is facing an internal tug-of-war over the title of “Jan Nayak”, traditionally associated with socialist icon Karpoori Thakur. The controversy began after the Congress declared Rahul Gandhi as “Jan Nayak”, prompting sharp reactions from allies. The RJD called Tejashwi Yadav the people’s hero, while the Samajwadi Party claimed the same title for Akhilesh Yadav. The Election Commission has issued a notice to Prashant Kishor after reports claimed his name appeared in voter lists of both Bihar and West Bengal, a violation under the Representation of the People Act. Reacting sharply, Kishor hit back at the poll body, asking why his name wasn’t deleted during the Special Intensive Revision and daring the Commission to “arrest him” if he’s at fault. NDTV’s Shubh Bhardwaj brings you this report.
