India Clarifies Stand On Russian Oil Amid Global Scrutiny

India has clarified that its decision on purchasing Russian oil will continue to be guided solely by national interest, amid global scrutiny and days after the India-U.S. interim trade deal. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stressed that India’s energy strategy is diversified, market-driven, and based on strategic autonomy, with sourcing decisions taken by oil companies rather than political pressure.
