Man Sets Motorcycle On Fire After Being Told Not To Light Cigarette At Petrol Pump

Two accused have been arrested for setting their own motorcycle on fire at a petrol pump in Raipur. A video of the incident had gone viral on social media. The incident took place on February 18 at around 7:40 PM at Sangeeta Petrol Pump located at Karma Chowk under the Urla police station limits in Raipur. According to police, two men arrived at the petrol pump on a motorcycle to refuel. While the petrol pump employee was filling fuel, the pillion rider got down and attempted to light a cigarette using a lighter. When the petrol pump staff objected, the man deliberately ignited the lighter and set fire to the motorcycle’s fuel tank while petrol was being filled. The flames quickly spread to the motorcycle tank and the petrol machine nozzle. However, due to the alertness of the petrol pump staff, the fire was brought under control immediately, preventing a major accident. Based on the complaint filed by the petrol pump employee, a case was registered at Urla Police Station under Sections 326 (misconduct by fire), 287, and 125 of the BNS. Under the leadership of the Station House Officer of Urla, a police team traced and identified the accused as Dharmendra Singh Kshatriya and Imran Qureshi. Both were arrested, and the motorcycle and lighter used in the incident were seized. Further action is underway.
