After Kerala to ‘Keralam’, Mamata Banerjee Demands ‘Bangla’

Reacting to the Union government’s approval to rename Kerala as Keralam, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned why her state’s long-pending demand to rename West Bengal as “Bangla” has not been cleared. Accusing the Centre of being “anti-Bengali,” Mamata lashed out at the BJP-led government, triggering a fresh political flashpoint between Kolkata and New Delhi.
