An internal office order detailing elaborate arrangements – including items such as undergarments, towels and toiletries – for a senior Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) director’s proposed visit to Prayagraj has triggered outrage after going viral on social media. The visit of Vivek Banzal, Director (CFA) on the BSNL Board, scheduled for February 25-26, has now been cancelled. Sources say Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has taken serious note of the matter, expressing displeasure over the alleged “VIP culture” and protocol violations. A show-cause notice has reportedly been issued to the concerned BSNL official as the government seeks accountability.
