Iran Leader Death | “This Is a Brazen, Illegal Attack That Puts The World At Risk”: Jeffrey Sachs

In an interview with NDTV, economist Jeffrey Sachs reacted to reports by Reuters that Iran’s IRGC navy had closed the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic. Sachs said such a move would likely trigger a major disruption in global oil supplies and could push the world economy into a serious crisis within weeks. While acknowledging he is not a military strategist, he suggested that efforts by the United States to prevent such an outcome may face significant challenges. He described the broader conflict involving the U.S., Israel and Iran as extremely dangerous, warning of severe geopolitical and economic fallout. Sachs also expressed strong condemnation of reported civilian casualties, saying the situation risks spiralling into a wider global confrontation if diplomacy fails.
