Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the Election Commission of India of becoming “predictable” and questioned whether upcoming elections would be fair. Speaking to NDTV ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly Election, he said the Congress party is ready for the polls but remains concerned about alleged irregularities in the electoral process. Khera also attacked Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing his government of corruption and claiming that last-minute welfare schemes are an attempt to influence voters before the election. He dismissed recent defections from the Congress as “predictable,” saying leaders who left the party lacked a moral compass. The Congress leader added that the party will campaign on issues such as corruption, governance failures and the Assam Accord, while asserting that Congress remains the “default political choice” for voters in the state.
