Trump Claims Hormuz ‘In Good Shape’, Urges Europe, Japan & South Korea to Step Up

US President Donald Trump says the Strait of Hormuz is “in very good shape,” even as he calls on Europe, Japan, South Korea and other major oil-dependent economies to help secure the critical waterway. Arguing that the US gets less than 1% of its oil from Hormuz, Trump says Washington has protected allies “for 40 years” and now wants them to share the burden as Iran continues to use the strait as an “economic weapon.”
