Explained: The Escalation Behind The Deadly Kabul Hospital Strike

The conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan has escalated sharply over the past three weeks, marked by continuous cross-border airstrikes and retaliation. The crisis intensified after Operation was launched by Pakistan on February 22, targeting alleged militant hideouts in eastern Afghanistan. The Taliban responded with counterstrikes on February 26, leading to a cycle of escalation. By early March, strikes hit Kabul and the Bagram Air Base, followed by reported attacks on residential areas in Kabul and Kandahar. The situation culminated in a devastating hospital strike in Kabul on Monday evening, which reportedly killed at least 400 people and injured 250, marking the deadliest incident in the ongoing conflict.
