Speaking at his first Cabinet meeting Thursday since he launched the war with Iran, President Donald Trump revealed that Tehhran’s “present” to him was allowing “8 big boats of oil” to pass through Strait of Hormuz. Earlier this week, Trump crypically told reporters that Iran “gave us a present” but wouldn’t say what the gift was. Trump said Thursday that the Iranian officials the U.S. is engaging in backchannel talks with are allowing “eight boats of oil” to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting it was an apparent act of good faith for negotiations.
