Karur Rally Tragedy: CBI Examines CCTV, Campaign Vehicle As Vijay Appears Today

TVK chief and actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to appear before the CBI today in connection with the Karur stampede case that claimed 41 lives during his party’s rally last September. The central agency has intensified its probe, examining over 20 hours of video footage, CCTV visuals from Vijay’s campaign vehicle, communication logs, duty rosters, and deployment plans. Questioning has also been conducted at the TVK headquarters, as party office-bearers had managed the rally. The CBI is working to fix accountability-whether lapses occurred at the level of the party, police, or local administration-even as the victims’ families have largely refrained from blaming Vijay, underscoring his enduring mass appeal in Tamil Nadu.
