A major political and religious controversy has erupted in Andhra Pradesh over the Tirupati laddu after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous YSR Congress Party government of using adulterated ghee in its preparation. Naidu alleged that the ghee contained chemicals used for cleaning bathrooms, calling it a deliberate act rather than an innocent mistake. The YSRCP has strongly denied the charges, asserting that the laddus were made using pure, traditional ghee and citing donations made to the TTD Trust for the preparation.
