Supreme Court Issues Showcause Notice To Bengal Top Cop Over SIR

The Supreme Court has issued showcause notice West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP). In a January 19 order, the Supreme Court had directed West Bengal Police to maintain law and order and aid the Election Commission to carry out SIR. The Supreme Court has sought personal affidavit from the DGP to explain his conduct and why action was not taken on the Election Commission complaint of vandalism.
