The NDTV Masterstroke Public Art Installation of the Year Award 2026 goes to Partha Dasgupta, the Kolkata-based painter and ceramic artist who has transformed Durga Puja pandals into powerful public art experiences. By blending ritual, philosophy and contemporary practice, Dasgupta has reimagined traditional festive spaces as immersive installations that invite reflection, dialogue and community participation. Supported by research fellowships from the Ministry of Culture and Lalit Kala Akademi, and with exhibitions and collaborations across India and abroad, his work bridges institutional art and the wider public sphere. Honouring Partha Dasgupta for reshaping public space and expanding the language of Indian public art.
