No Anti-Incumbency, Alliance Intact: Kanimozhi On 2026 Tamil Nadu Battle

At the NDTV Tamil Nadu Summit, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi spoke about the road to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. With the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam currently in power, she framed the upcoming polls as a continuation of the Dravidian movement’s legacy rooted in social justice rather than merely an electoral contest.

Responding to questions on anti-incumbency and alliance dynamics, particularly speculation about strains with the Congress, Kanimozhi dismissed suggestions of cracks, stating that differences of opinion are natural in democratic politics. She expressed confidence that the DMK government’s outreach to women, students, and businesses would translate into electoral support, even as rivals including the Bharatiya Janata Party intensify their campaign in the state.
