States Weigh Phone Ban For Under-16s Amid Rising Social Media Addiction Concerns

After Andhra Pradesh and Goa, Karnataka is now considering restrictions on mobile phone use for students below 16, citing growing worries over social media addiction, behavioural changes, and declining academic focus among teenagers. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought inputs from university vice chancellors on the feasibility of the proposal, which also aims to curb exposure to harmful online content and risky networks.
