A political row has erupted ahead of polls in West Bengal, with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Trinamool Congress clashing over a letter signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bengal electors. The BJP alleged that the TMC promotes slogans like “Jai Bangla” from Bangladesh, while the TMC hit back, saying it is proud to have made the Prime Minister sign off with “Jai Maa Kali.” The TMC also claimed the letter would have little electoral impact.
