France Sends Naval Force To Reopen The Strait Of Hormuz Amidst Oil Shortages

France ​will send ​two warships as part of the European Union’s ​naval ‌mission ⁠Aspides in the Red ‌Sea, French President Emmanuel ⁠Macron said on Monday. The French president said the “purely defensive, purely support mission” will be put together by European and non-European states. Maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, a key Gulf waterway through which a fifth of global crude passes, has all but halted since the war broke out on February 28.
