India has unveiled its ambitious Defence Vision 2047, a long-term roadmap aimed at transforming the country’s armed forces into a high-tech, self-reliant military power by the centenary year of independence.
The plan outlines 15 key pillars, including stronger tri-service integration across the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.
It focuses on self-reliance in defence manufacturing, cyber defence, space capabilities, AI-driven warfare, joint military commands, and maritime domain awareness in the Indian Ocean.
The strategy also emphasizes technology integration, specialised action forces, defence diplomacy, and veteran empowerment, marking a shift away from colonial-era structures toward a modern military ecosystem rooted in Indian strategic thinking.
