A man in Bihar has been accused of falsely claiming he cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 with All India Rank 440. Ranjit Kumar’s claim led to celebrations in his village, where residents organised processions and honoured him for the supposed achievement. Local politicians and police officials felicitated him with garlands, gifts and cash. Kumar also delivered motivational speeches to students, speaking about hard work and success. The claim was later questioned after the official UPSC merit list was checked. AIR 440 was found to belong to Ranjith Kumar R from Karnataka. After the discrepancy surfaced, Ranjit Kumar reportedly switched off his phone and disappeared from Fatehpur village, and authorities are now trying to locate him.
